Go Carts!

While we were in Fargo, we also got to see Allison, Ross, Gus and Nora! We stayed with them on Saturday. Gus rode the go carts a couple of weeks ago, so we thought the boys would have fun, too! They sure did!

Fun in Fargo

My best friend Sara was in Fargo a couple of weekends ago, so we drove there so we could see her and her awesome family. Sara is the mom to 5 kids, including one that has a Congenital Heart Defect. They live in California and were in ND/MN for the last 6 weeks. We don't get to see her very often, so it was great to get together and let the kids play together. Of course, we stayed at the Holiday Inn with the pirate ship! The boys loved this!

Townes loved the water and Paige enjoyed hanging out! They are so cute!

Ashton loved the slides!

Carson like to practice swimming and of course loved the hot tub!

Como Animals

The Como zoo is the perfect size for the kids to walk around. We checked out the sea lions inside and outside.

We also saw the penguins that were relocated from the Minot zoo, due to the flooding.

The boys enjoyed seeing the animals up close!

Como Town

We went to Como Town and Como Zoo a couple of weekends ago. We let the boys ride the rides first before going to look at the animals. Ashton's favorite ride was the train.

Carson's favorite ride was the Frog Hopper. I can't believe Carson liked this ride. It would raise him up and then drop him. I bet he went on it 5 times in a row!

They also enjoyed the firetruck ride. They could actually stand in the back and they would rise up and down and get to shoot water.

They loved riding the car rides, too!

Soccer Games

Carson has soccer games on Mondays and Wednesdays. It took Carson a couple of games to warm up. Here he is warming-up before the game.

He got to be one of the captains the first game.

Then he spent most of the game running around following everyone else.

Carson's favorite so far is when he got to play goalie. He did pretty well for his first time. He only let two goals in. Paul stood by the goal to make sure Carson paid attention to where the ball was.

First (and only) Soccer Practice

Carson is playing soccer for the first time this year. Due to weather and not getting the email from the coach right away, Carson only went to one practice before he started games.

Ashton's First Twins Game

A couple of weeks ago we got to go to the Twins game thanks to the Boys and Girls Club of Elk River. This was Ashton's first game and he did great! Carson, however, wanted to leave after about the 2nd inning once his box of popcorn was done.

Day at the Carnival

We went to the local carnival again this year. Bella and Travis came with us this year. The boys started on the roller coaster, while Bella watched.

Paul had to go on the pirate ship with the boys because Ashton wasn't tall enough to go by himself. This was one of Carson's favorite rides.

We rode a couple more rides before lunch.

Even Bella found something she could ride on! The boys like riding it to, especially Ashton.

Then the boys and I went down the super slide (Ashton wasn't tall enough again).

The last stop before we headed home were the ponies. The boys enjoyed riding them.

Parade

The boys were excited to go to the parade. It's right by our house, so we can just walk there. Of course, their favorite was the firetrucks!

A couple of weeks ago we went to the park with Bella and Travis. Bella loved going down the slides!

New Bikes

We finally switched Ashton from a crib to a big boy bed! Ashton loves climbing the ladder. I like that there is storage underneath it!

Back to the Dells

Last week we spent four days in Wisconsin Dells. We meet our good friends from Illinois. This year they had two sets of twin girls (1 and almost 4) and brought a couple of helpers! It was a little chaotic at times, but everyone had a really good time and we got lots of swimming and slides in!

We started the first night with Justin putting dish soap in the dishwasher. The floors were really clean!

Cubby's Cove was one of their favorite places. They really loved walking across the lily pads. We were one of the few people there so it was really nice that it wasn't busy.

They were a little more daring on the water slides this year. We went on the Mammoth water slide as a family and then Justin went with them. I thought they would be scared because it was dark and you couldn't see what was happening!

We also spent a lot of time in the indoor playland and at the arcade. The boys had fun racing each other. I think we were there every night!

Cars, Trucks and Tractors

One of the highlight's in May was Vehicle Day. It's the third year in a row that we've went and it was a prefect day. The boys got to see just about every vehicle you could imagine and sit in each of them. They had a great time!

Back to the Museum

About a month ago we headed back to the Children's Museum to meet our friends that were in town. Carson was very excited to see the new Lego room, but first we had to make stops in the other rooms.

Then it was time for the Lego room! They had both little Lego's for Carson and big Lego's for Ashton.

Then it was time for the animal room. They really like this one, too!

Easter Prep

The boys enjoyed decorating cookies for Easter. Most of the time they just ate the frosting and decorations.

Even Grandma Johnson joined in on the fun.

The next day we dyed Easter eggs. We did paint brushes this year and I wouldn't recommend that. It was pretty messy!

Trip to California

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege to go to California to visit one of my best friends. It was a much needed vacation away from this weather. Paul survived on his own, so that means I get to keeping going on girl trips! Sara had everything planned when I got there!

First we went wig shopping for the Wigs and Wine party we were going to later that night.

Then we checked into our hotel room to get ready.

Then it was time for the party!

The next day we went wine tasting in Temecula. We went to five vineyards. The weather was amazing, in the 90's. It was a great day filled with lots of wine and great company.

That night we drove to San Diego and spent the next day walking around Coronado Island and La Jolla beach.

The next day we headed back to El Segundo and I spent the time with Sara's wonderful family (she has 5 kids).

Hurry Get Outside

Last weekend we met my parents in Fargo to celebrate Ashton's (on the 8th) and my dad's (on the 23rd) birthday's. My brother and Bella even got to come with. So, Friday night was filled with swimming and waterslides. Papa and Travis were there to catch the boys!

Three Year Check-up

On Friday Ashton had his three year check-up. He weighs 30 pounds (six pounds less than Carson)and is 37 inches tall. He had a rough trip to the doctor. He ended up getting a shot (I told him he wouldn't have to get shots) and then he had to go to the lab for a blood draw. He wasn't very happy after all of this!

Ashton had a great birthday. He got to celebrate at day care with cupcakes and even got a present.

Then when he got home, he opened more presents!

Ashton enjoyed a little cuddle time with daddy and his new Micky Mouse blanket! Turning three is hard work!

Ashton's Third Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Ashton's third birthday party! We had it at the local gymnastics place. They got to play inside the giant dragon.

Then it was time for the rope swing and the pit!

They even got to jump into the pit! NO FEAR!

They also enjoyed jumping on the trampoline's.

After all of the running around and jumping, it was time for cake and presents!

Visiting Carson

Because it's been a cold and snowy winter, we haven't been doing much. So, I haven't had a lot of fun stuff to post.

About a month ago, our beautiful niece turned one! She loved her first birthday party and loved her giant cupcake!

Children's Museum

While my parents were here this weekend we all went to the Children's Museum. The boys had fun in the construction room. They got to work with cement bricks.

Then we played in the water room and got all wet!

One of the favorite rooms was the four seasons room. Even Bella liked this one.

The last rooms were the ant hill and forest rooms. Ashton loved the ant hill and the giant ant!

The boys also liked playing with the animals in the river.

Christmas in January

The next day Travis and Bella came over for dinner. Bella tried to play blocks with Ashton and Travis.

Mexican Fiesta

Shortest Swimming Trip

We made a trip to Treasure Island Casino while my parents were here. We took the boys swimming, which didn't last long because the Chlorine was way too strong. The boys couldn't stop coughing! I think they lasted about 30 minutes before they had to get out!

My parents were here for Christmas. The boys (and Isabella) love hanging out with them. They play games and read books.

Thanks to a huge snow storm our plans were cancelled for the weekend. We were supposed to make the trip to Fargo, but decided to stay just is case it got as bad as they said it would. And it did! I think most places got about 15 to 20 inches of snow. Here's some pictures outside our house.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we stayed home! It was just the four of us and then Travis and Bella came over for lunch. Ashton and Travis built towers, while Bella watched.

Bella also showed off her new standing and walking skills.

Party at the Firestation

Carson and Ashton got to go to a birthday party at a fire station. They got to meet a real firefighter and see the firetrucks up close. The birthday boy, Quinn, got to try on all of the fire fighter's gear.

Then they got to check out all of the firetrucks!

Today we woke-up to SNOW and lots of it. I think we have between six and nine inches.

So, I bundled up the boys and we headed out to play! The boys helped shovel.

Carson made a snow angel and then I pulled the boys in the sled. I got my workout in for the day!

Family Time

Eileen, Anthony, Grandma and Papa Johnson stopped by last Sunday for a quick afternoon visit. This was probably the last time we will see Eileen and Anthony for a long time because they are moving to New Mexico in a couple of weeks.

They enjoyed quality time with Grandma. She played lots of games with them and help put together a couple of puzzles.

5 Year Stats

A couple of weeks ago we took Carson in for his 5 year wellness check-up. Here's his updated stats:

Weight: 35 pounds, 8 ounces (10th percentile)
Height: 41 inches (15th percentile)

Basically, we have a skinny, short kid! I was really hoping he'd hit the 40 pound mark, but maybe next year! He really does eat a lot (4 waffles for breakfast today), but he hardly ever sits down. He passed both his hearing and eye tests. He also had to get SIX shots! He was really worked up before they started giving the shots, but once she started giving them, he actually calmed down and figured out it didn't hurt too much. He did limp for the next couple of days! I can't believe he starts kindergarten next year!

Candy Day

Carson was Lightening McQueen for Halloween and Ashton was a dinosaur (even though he wouldn't wear the head).

Sticks and Glue

The night before Halloween I had to come up with a creative way to fix Carson's costume. It was supposed to stick-out in the front and back of him, but it was squished down. So, I improvised with sticks that Carson had collected throughout the summer and had left in my car and glue!

Last Saturday we carved the boy's perfect pumpkins! I was tasked with cleaning them out first, while other's watched!

How come they never help? It's not like I enjoy touching the insides of a pumpkin.

On October 5th, Carson turned 5! It was also his golden birthday. He loved opening his presents.

Corn Maze Birthday Party

Carson celebrated his birthday a little early yesterday. It was outside at a local corn maze, so we moved it up hoping we would still have nice weather. I'm happy to report that is was sunny and in the high 60's, so it was perfect!

We started out by running through the little hay bale maze. It was easier to run on top!

Then we moved to the corn pit! It was awesome!

We took a break for juice, cake and opening presents.

Ashton enjoyed the bounce house and slide. Carson tried climbing the tower, but didn't make it all the way to the top!

After we got home, all Carson wanted to do was play with his presents and put together all of the Legos he got. With the help of me and Paul, we got them all together and we have a happy boy!

Dinner with Bella

We went over to Travis's for dinner on Saturday night. The boys had fun playing on Bella's giant dinosaur. She's almost big enough to ride it!

On Tuesday Carson started pre-school again. He was super excited to go!

He was also excited to wear his new Phineas and Ferb backpack and hang it in his cubby.

He had fun trying out all of the stations they had set-up.

Three

On Saturday we went to Brainerd for our nephew, Anthony's, third birthday party. It is probably the last time we will be there because they are moving to New Mexico in October. The boys really loved going up there, especially to ride the 4-wheeler. They started the day off by digging in the mud.

A clown came to the party and made balloon animals for the kids. Carson got a giraffe!

Ashton had to ride the 4-wheeler with dad numerous times. He just couldn't get enough of it.

Then it was time for cake and presents. Anthony had a cool spiderman cake and got lots of presents!

After this Ashton was pretty much at his breaking point, since he didn't take a nap. He really wanted to ride this 4-wheeler one more time, but it wasn't charged yet! So, he had to settle for another one, but he just couldn't get it to go! So, we decided it was time to go home!

Water Fun

We had a change of plans this weekend, so we decided to take the boys to the water park in Elk River for the night. The boys had to check out the jacuzzi in our room and then did some wrestling.

Then Bella and Uncle Travis came to go swimming, too!

Ashton, Carson and even Travis and Bella went down the orange water slide.

Everyone seemed to have fun playing in the water.

Then the boys had to warm-up and take a bath in the jacuzzi tub!

Eight

Today Paul and I celebrated our eight year anniversary! We enjoyed the day to ourselves while the kids were at day care. We headed to the casino and then had a late lunch. It was great to have a day to ourselves!

Minnesota Zoo

On Sunday, we decided to go to the Minnesota Zoo. We usually go to Como Zoo, but decided to try this one instead. Paul and I were there seven years ago and wanted to see what it was like now. First we went through the tropics trail. Of course, Ashton loved the turtles. Carson liked the fish.

Then we went to see the dolphins. Ashton really enjoyed watching them swim around.

After the dolphins we rode the monorail. They boys really liked to look out and see the animals.

Lastly, we went to the farm area and rode the tractor. This was Ashton's favorite part of the entire zoo!

Quack Quack

We headed back to the duck park on Saturday. Last time we were there, the babies weren't born yet, so there wasn't too many ducks to feed. This time, however, there were plenty to feed! The boys had fun throwing bread to the ducks.

Quick Trip

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Fargo to visit Grandma and Grandpa W. We made a stop at the Children's Museum. It was the perfect size for the boys to run around in and there wasn't too many people there. They did some shopping and painted pictures for Grandma and Grandpa.

Then we rode the train and played outside on the playland.

Of course there was swimming on both Friday and Saturday nights. They had fun going down the slides and swimming with daddy and Grandpa. Mommy and Grandma were the supervisors out of the pool!

We made a short stop at Allison and Ross's house. They welcomed their daughter Nora Grace on the 11th. So, it worked out that we got to see her. She's beautiful!

Then there was popcorn before bed and rides on the "choo choo" before we left!

Carnival

On Saturday they had a kiddie carnival at one of the local parks. It was raining when we first got there, but then started to clear up. They got to ride in a train. It seems Ashton found a girlfriend on one of the trips!

Colored Eggs

When I asked Carson what he wanted for breakfast on Saturday, he said "green eggs, no red eggs." So, he got his red eggs.

Ashton then wanted blue eggs. So, he also got his blue eggs.

Bubble Machine

The boys loved the bubble machine that was at day care, so we decided to get one. It is pretty cool and you have continuous bubbles, so you don't have to do any of the work!

Swimming

I took the boys swimming at a hotel with Travis and baby Bella. I had to make sure they had their life jackets so it was a little easier to watch them both at the same time! Bella just chilled and relaxed.

The boys had fun. Ashton wanted to jump in by himself. Good thing Uncle Travis was there to help!

Carson enjoyed hanging out on the stairs. It took him a little bit to get used to the life jacket. But, once he did then he liked floating on his own.

Jen and Paul Clark were nice enough to host a BBQ for a group of us that have been friends since High School. I think there were a total of 12 kids and 9 adults. The kids had fun playing together and the rest of us had fun trying to catching up!

Roosevelt Park Zoo

The boys really enjoyed going to the zoo. Ashton really liked the turtles, bears and lions. Carson enjoyed the monkeys and feeding the deer.

Parks and Recreation

While we were back in Minot the boys went to a couple of parks. They got to play at the same park that I used to play at when I was little. Of course the playground has been updated since I played there last!

Later in the week we stopped by Oak Park to play in the splash park and then on the playground. However, Carson thought there was too many kids in the water area and only played for about 5 minutes and Ashton was scared and didn't go in the water at all!

Sand and Water

My parents made a little sandbox for the boys to play in while we were there. They loved playing in it everyday!

They also got them a pool to play in, which was a good idea because it got pretty hot the last couple of days that we were there!

First Time Fishing

While we were back in ND, my dad took Carson and Ashton fishing for the first time. Carson wanted to use his CARS fishing pole that he got for Christmas. We just went to a little catch and release pond.

Unfortunately, the fish got the worms, but we weren't able to catch any of them! Better luck next time!

Vacation in ND

We got our camera back just in time for our vacation back to ND to visit our parents for a week. The boys had fun hanging out with both grandparents. They loved helping dad with mowing the lawn for Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. Eventually it just turned into Paul driving up and down the sidewalk giving them rides!

They also had fun doing puzzles and learning to play the Wii with my dad. Carson was my mom's buddy the entire trip!

Bella's Baptism

On Sunday, my niece and goddaughter Bella was baptised. She did very good and didn't cry at all. Then she fell asleep right after the ceremony.

Then we all went out for breakfast, where Carson spilt an entire glass of orange juice all over! It was a very special day and am glad that my parents were able to come down for the special occasion.

Fast Trip

My parents made a quick trip here this past weekend for Bella's baptism. Papa was the popular one. He got to play dominoes with Ashton and take a nap with Carson.

I don't have anymore pictures from the weekend because my camera started to spark when the flash went off and started smoking. So, we took it in to see if they could fix it! So, there won't be anymore posts until I get my camera back!

Last Day of Preschool

Thursday was Carson's last day of preschool. He's excited for his last day!

They each got a diploma and then we got to eat ice cream!

He was excited to show off the diploma and is looking forward to going again next year!

While Daddy Was Gone

Paul left on Tuesday to be with his parents because they were both scheduled to have a procedure done and surgery. His dad ended up not having to have a stent put in the vein in his neck. His mom has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. She was released today and is feeling pretty good.

So, while Paul has been gone, it's been just me and the boys. Here's what we've been doing while daddy has been away. We played trucks outside.

We played with Thomas the Train and then took a bath.

Then we played outside again. This time it was sidewalk chalk and more trucks.

We also went to the park to play and feed the ducks.

We are all excited to have Paul back tomorrow!

Chilly and Muddy

On Saturday we went up to Brainerd for the day to see Paul's family. It was a little chilly, so we had to break out the winter coats again! But, the boys had fun playing outside.

We also brought their rain boots incase it was muddy...which it was! They had fun playing in the water and mud!

Let's Go Twins!

Thanks to the Boys and Girls Club in Elk River, we got to go to a Twins game at the new Target Field! It is a great baseball field! We had seats in the outfield! It would have been more fun to watch, but it rained just as the game started and it was pretty chilly. It did stop raining and we made it 6 innings before Carson was cold and tired!

Carson got a new jersey for the game.

Bed Time Routine

Ashton likes to sit in the rocking chair, drink his milk and read books before bedtime.

Carson likes to play with his trucks in his bed. He actually falls asleep with everything in his bed.

Vehicle Day

Saturday was Vehicle Day in Champlin. They have different trucks for the kids to sit inside and look at. Carson was a little disappointed that the firetruck wasn't there this year. But he got to see a tow truck and street sweeper! Ashton's favorite was the school bus.

60 Years

On Sunday we celebrated my grandparents 60th anniversary. I can't believe they have been married so long. We are very blessed to have them in our lives. It's amazing to see them still in love after 60 years.

They even had their maid-of honor and best man there to celebrate! The best man is the one who introduced my grandparents in 1948!

It was great to have the entire family together!

Trip to Iowa

On Saturday we headed to Des Moines, Iowa to celebrate my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. The boys had fun playing with Grandma.

Great-grandpa rocked and sang to Isabella.

Then it was time for a bath!

Fun in ND

This past weekend we went to Fargo and Grand Forks to visit friends and family. The Pankratz family was nice enough to host us on Friday night. Allison took some time to read to the boys. They had fun playing with each other.

Then on Saturday we went to Grand Forks to meet my parents and go to the water park. The boys had lots of fun. Ashton didn't want to get out.

Carson got a new CARS umbrella from my parents. He thought is was pretty cool and is waiting for it to rain so he can try it out!

Of course before we left the boys had to ride on the luggage cart, or the "choo choo" as they like to call it.

Back Outside

We've been having such great weather here the last couple of weeks. So, we decided to get the boys out and enjoy the day. We went to a play ground and were the only ones there! They boys had fun swinging, sliding and chasing each other.

Easter Part 2

The boys enjoyed finding their Easter baskets and seeing what was in them. Carson's was in Copper's kennel.

Ashton's was in the bathroom sink! He loved the candy!

Then it was time to get ready for church.

Isabella came over later in the day to celebrate! She is the cutest!

Easter Part 1

On Saturday we went to Brainerd to celebrate Easter with Paul's family. The boys went to an Easter egg hunt.

Apparently dad is a bad driver, because on the way back to Neil's the boys wanted to protect their heads with the buckets used for the egg hunt...just in case!

Then it was time for lots of 4-wheel riding. Ashton even got grandpa to take him for a ride (after asking him all day)!

Eggs Dyed

On Friday we dyed our Easter eggs. The boys had fun doing it and there wasn't too much fighting!

Beach Day

Carson had beach day at pre-school last week. He had a great time. We also had his conferences. His teachers said he has excellent cutting skills and isn't afraid to ask questions. It was neat to see how far he has come since he started in September.

Fun with Grandparents

My mom and dad were here last weekend and the boys had lots of fun with them. Ashton and my dad did some reading.

Carson cuddled with my mom. She even bought him new sunglasses.

They enjoyed spending time with all their grand kids, including Isabella.

Birthday Party!

Last Saturday we celebrated Ashton's birthday with family. He had a Curious George themed party!

We had lots of visitors for Ashton to hang out with.

Of course he got lots of presents and enjoyed opening and playing with them.
