Our Underwater Adventure

We woke up to about a 1/2 inch of snow and the temperature in the 30's and knew that we wouldn't be playing outside today and we needed to get out of the house. So, we decided to make the trip to the Mall of America to take the kids to the Underwater Adventure Aquarium and then eat at the Rainforest Cafe. We actually got off on time, but then about a mile from our house, my check engine light started flashing and my car started acting weird. So, we had to go back home switch cars, take my car in to get checked out and then we were off to MOA. Carson seemed to like the fish and enjoyed playing in the sand at the end. Ashton just slept the entire time! At the Rainforest Cafe, Carson really enjoyed when it started to thunder and lightening and the animals started talking. He was very good for the most part, with only a couple of meltdowns because he wanted to walk and not be in his stroller. We made it home and found out they couldn't find anything really wrong with my car, so they just did an expensive tune-up to see if that would help. I sure hope it worked, we don't want to buy a car right now!

Unemployed

Well, after almost four months of waiting, I finally found out today that I am being laid off as of May 2nd. We were told in the middle of December that McKesson was going to divest our division and wanted the sale to be completed by March 31st. The sale was completed on April 11th and we were sold to a competitor, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services. After not knowing anything for so long, it's good to finally know what my fate is. So, I guess that my maternity leave will be extended for a couple more weeks and the job search will begin. If anyone knows of any marketing job openings, let me know!

Jimmy John's #2

As of April 1st we are the proud owners of our second Jimmy John's. This store is an existing one that has been open for over a year. It is located in Ramsey, MN. Paul is now the manager of this store and my brother is now the manager at the store in Elk River, MN. This store just celebrated it's first anniversary on April 10th! The last week has been a little hectic with the second store, but is getting better. Paul is enjoying himself so much, that we have also purchased the rights to build a third store in Buffalo, MN. That store will be a brand new one and we hope to open it this summer or fall.

With the increase of stores, Paul decided that he needed to purchase a Blackberry, so that he could get his e-mails all of the time. I think that this phone is his new best friend. It eats with us, sits on the couch and watches TV with us and has even came to bed with us! It's the most annoying purchase Paul could have ever made. He's addicted to it! I'm hoping that soon, he will be able to start paying more attention to us and less attention to his Blackberry!

2 1/2 years old and 1 month old

Carson turned 2 1/2 on the 5th and Ashton turned 1 month on the 8th. I can't believe it's already been a month since he was born. Time sure goes by fast. I only have a couple more weeks of maternity leave. With Carson I was able to be home for 12 weeks, but this time I am only able to take about 9 weeks. At least I won't have to worry about taking him to day care for the first time. We know that he will be in good hands this time and that will make it a lot easier! For those of you who follow college hockey...the Sioux are in the Frozen Four and play Boston College on Thursday night. So, we will be watching that! Go Sioux!

Our First Trip to the ER!

Well, Saturday night was our first trip to the ER! At about 7:30 Carson was jumping around and landed on his arm weird and he started crying uncontrolably and holding his arm saying it hurt. I tried to give it a kiss, because that always works when he gets hurt, but not this time. He wouldn't move his right arm and just kept crying and wouldn't let me try and touch it. I finally got him calmed down and told him that if he didn't show me that he could move it, we were going to have to go to the doctor. I thought that would work because he'll do anything not to go to the doctor. But, he just kept crying and saying his arm hurt. He even wanted some Tylenol...because apparently Tylenol cures all, but that didn't work either. So, I had to call Paul at work and have him come home, so we could make our first trip to the ER. We got in quick and he just sat in Paul's lap still holding his arm and not moving it. So, they wanted to take X-rays to see if it was broken. While we were waiting, Paul moved Carson's arm one more time and he started crying again and then about a minute later, he jumped down and started moving it and playing with everything in the room and wouldn't sit anymore. So, of course now we looked like idiots! They still wanted to take X-rays, just to be sure. Then the doctor came in, as Carson is jumping around and using his arm. He said it wasn't broken and he thought maybe he had pinched a tendon in his elbow and when Paul moved his arm the last time, it became un-pinched and didn't hurt anymore. So, an hour and a half later, we were on our way home with a "fixed arm." I'm not one to over react and take my kids to the doctor for every little thing, but I had never seen Carson act like this before. I'm sure this won't be our last trip to the ER with two boys!

Our New Addition

Well, I decided it was time for us to join the bandwagon and start a blog. We have a couple of friends that have one and it's a good way to keep everyone informed of what we are doing (if you really care) and to post pictures.

Our biggest news in the birth of our new son, Ashton Jack Aiden Johnson. He was born on March 8th at 9:23am. This delivery went very smooth and seemed a lot easier than with Carson. It just so happens that Ashton was born on Grandma Johnson's birthday. She was very happy to have a new grandson as her birthday present.

We are slowly getting into a routine and sleeping about 3 hours at a time at night. Carson doesn't seem to get too jelous, but does have his moments when he wants to cuddle when we are holding or feeding Ashton. He has also been going to day care a couple of days a week so I can have a break and he can play with his friends at day care.

I did venture out today with both boys by myself to run errands, while Paul was at work. It went pretty smoothly. Ashton slept the entire time and Carson held my hand and didn't run off anywhere. I may have to try it again later this week. It was beautiful outside today, so we got to play outside in the morning and this afternoon. Carson loves to be outside. I can't wait until we get a house with a backyard! I hope this is the
end of winter and snow!
