Birthday Weekend Fun!
This weekend was Carson's birthday party. My parents came to town on Friday afternoon. Carson had his 3 year wellness check-up on Friday. He weighed in at 27.6 pounds and was 36 1/2 inches tall. He is still in about the 10th percentile for weight, but jumped up from the 10th percentile for height to the 25th! He wasn't a big fan of the doctor and nurses trying to take his blood pressure, check his hearing or anything else! So, next time Paul will be taking him.
Saturday was the big day...the birthday party at a hotel with a water park! My grandparents came on Saturday, as did Paul's parents, Neil and Eileen, my brother, our friends and Carson's friends. He had a good time at the water park, but was a little timid. But, I took him again Sunday morning and he was willing to try more things. He had a Cars cake and even drove the car that came on the cake on the road that was on the cake. Sorry to those who got the pieces without the frosting! Carson received lots of presents and we thank everyone for everything! Now, we just have to find room for everything in our house. Sunday we went to breakfast will all of our family. I took Monday off to spend the day with my parents and then they left this morning. Now, Paul is off to Chicago until Friday.

3 years....already?
I can't believe three years ago that Carson was born!
I can remember how nervous we were to become parents for the first time. I remember how nervous we were to bring a baby home. We didn't know how to take care of a baby.
I also remember the emotions we felt when they told us that Carson was having seizures and was getting transferred to the NICU. I can still remember just like it was yesterday, seeing him in the NICU hooked up to all those wires and not knowing what was going to happen.
I remember all the tests and going up there every day to feed him and hold him, hoping they would find out what caused the seizures, but at the same time praying they wouldn't find anything. I remember going to bed each night and hoping we wouldn't receive a call in the middle of the night. I remember the joy we felt when we finally got to bring Carson home a week later.
Now it's three years later and we have the happiest and healthiest boy...well, a little on the skinny side...but no seizures. Today, I reflect back on how far Carson has come in the last three years and how much joy he has brought to our lives. It's amazing to see how much he learns every day and how he talks non-stop. He's really becoming a little man!
So, today was Carson's day! I made him muffins for breakfast and he ate popcorn for lunch. Paul and I bought him a car carrier (yes, it's really that big...not sure what we were thinking) and a new bike for him to ride next year.

He played with the car carrier all day and took a couple of trips on his bike in our kitchen. Then we went out to eat at Champps for dinner with my brother, who's birthday was Friday (Happy Birthday Travis). Carson had spaghetti...as you can see.

Then we came home and it was time for cake.

This birthday was really great because he actually understood what was going on. He thanked us for the presents we got him , gave us hugs and said it was his best birthday ever. On Saturday he will be having his birthday party with all of our family and friends. I know he is going to love that day too. So, happy 3rd birthday Carson! Mom and Dad love you!

Fun in Fargo
This past weekend the boys and I (minus Paul...he had to work) headed to Fargo to stay with our friends, Ross, Allison and Gus. I had to make the 3 hour drive so Allison could take Ashton's 6 month pictures and Carson's 3 year pictures. We had both of them done in less than an hour. Thanks Allison!
We mostly relaxed and let our kids play together. We did go to a little Fall Festival that had some little games, a pumpkin patch and a little park. Carson started not feeling well Saturday night and today I took him in because he said his ear hurt. We got some medicine and hopefully that will do the trick. It was a fun weekend. Thanks to Ross and Allison for letting us stay with them.

Jimmy John's #3
On Wednesday, our third Jimmy John's store will open in Buffalo, MN! It seems like this one has taken forever to open. Tonight was Friend's and Family night where everyone got free subs so all the employees could practice for the big opening tomorrow. Good luck! This store is a little different then our other two because this one has a drive-thru. We'll see how that goes. Paul will be busy now helping out at this store...70 miles round trip from our house! Here are some pics from tonight!

The Yummy Menu

Carson is starting to like the sandwiches, but still prefers the chips, pop and cookies!

Ashton may be a little too young

6 Month Update
Today we had the fun 6 month check-up. Everything looks good! Ashton weights in at 16 pounds and 7 ounces, so he gained about 2 pounds in the last 2 months. He's 26 1/2 inches long. I guess his head is a little on the smaller side at 16 1/2 inches. While we were weighing Ashton,Carson got on the other scale and weights in at a whopping...28 pounds! Poor kid....we just can't get him to gain weight! He will have his 3 year check-up in a couple of weeks!
The shots didn't seem to bother Ashton as much this time! YEAH! He's eating cereal, fruits and veggies now. He loves to eat! He is starting to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth...so we could have a crawler sooner than later!

Carson Quotes
Carson has been saying some pretty funny things lately. Below are some of the things he's been saying.
Quote #1
J: Where are Ashton's teeth?
C: Ashton doesn't have any teeth. I have teeth.
J: Ashton's too little for teeth.
C: We have to get him some at the Nana Store (Target)
Quote #2
P: Carson, there's the firetrucks. Are you going to be a firefighter when you grow-up?
C: No, no fireman.
P: Are you going to drive a dump truck?
C: No, no dump truck.
C: I am going to be an excavator driver and put dirt into dump trucks.
Quote #3
C: Mom, where are my wings?
J: You don't have any wings, you have arms.
C: But, where are my wings?
J: You don't have any. Only certain animals have wings, like birds, bees, and butterflies.
C: I have wings, they are in my tummy. Can you get them out?
Quote #4
C: Mom, Copper is in my parking spot. (Referring to Copper sitting on the couch, watching out the window)
Have a good weekend!
