Our Special Sunday

On June 15th Ashton was baptised. As you can see in the pictures, he is wearing a gown (or as Paul likes to call it...a dress). But the baptismal gown that he is wearing is about 90 years old. It was my grandpa's and numerous people in my family have worn it, including my dad, me and Carson. So, it has special meaning! Ashton was good through the baptism. He slept for the first half and didn't even cry when he got the water poured on his head. I was surprised because he's not fond of bath's. Both of our parents were able to be there, as well as Paul's brother, sister-in-law, nephew and my brother. My brother is one of Ashton's godparents, but my best friend, Anne, and her husband, Jason, are also godparents. They weren't able to make it because they live in SD, but I know they were there in spirit. After the baptism, we just came back to our house for a BBQ.

It was also a special day because it was also Father's Day. So, we also got to spend time with both of our dads. I know we have both learned a lot from them. Paul has also been a wonderful dad to Carson and Ashton. He has been very helpful and very hands-on. I hope Ashton and Carson both grow up to have Paul's desire for hard work, his outgoing personality and his love of sports.

Family Week

I know it's been a couple of weeks since I've last updated everyone. This last week has been family week. It all started last Saturday when my parents came to visit for the week. When they got here, we walked over to Father Hennepin Days here in Champlin. It's pretty much like a mini-fair. Carson got to ride a pony, feed some animals and ride on the rides. It was his first time! He went on a choo-choo train, cars and then on a dragon roller coaster (I had to go with on that one). He had a great time. Then on Sunday, Paul's family came to town for Ashton's baptism. Then we had everyone over for a BBQ. My parents left on Monday to go to Iowa to visit my grandparents and then came back here on Thursday afternoon. On Friday we went to Como Zoo and Carson got to ride even more rides and see all of the animals and then Saturday I went shopping at the Albertville outlets and then my parents left from there to go back to Minot. So, we have been very busy, but it was a great time and went by way too fast. These pictures are of Carson at Father Hennepin Days. I will post more pictures later in the week.

3 Months

Ashton turned 3 months on June 8th. I can't believe that he's that old already. He is getting baptized this Sunday, so we will be busy this weekend with family. He doesn't go back to the doctor until next month, so I'll have updated stats on his growth then. He is pretty much sleeping through the night, from about 8:00-9:00pm to 4:00am-6:00am. It's nice not to have to get up every 3 hours! He is now working on trying to turn over! He can definitely move in circles!

Too old of an XBox 360?

Well, after months of hearing Paul complain about not having an Xbox, I finally gave in a couple of weeks ago. It was quite funny watching him trying to hook it up. He's not the most technically savvy person. Yes, he did have to call one of our neighbors over to help! But, don't worry, after about an hour or so, we got it working. The next challenge came, when he couldn't get the head set to work. Apparently you can talk to people while you play, which is why it is soooo cool and we had to get one. In the picture you will see Paul with his head set on, while he's talking to our neighbor on our home phone and taking to my brother on his cell phone trying to get the headset to work. Don't worry, that got solved as well, and now everything is working as it should. The only rule....can't play until Carson goes to bed!

2 Month Update

Today I took Ashton in for his 2 month check-up. He tipped the scales at 11 pounds, 15 ounces and was 22.4 inches long and his head is 39 centimeters. She said he looked good. He does have a lot of baby acne on his arms, front and back that we need to keep an eye on to make sure it's not something else and doesn't get infected. I think he just has sensitive skin! He also has a red mark on the roof of his mouth that we need to keep an eye on to make sure it isn't growing. She thought maybe it was a birth mark. He slept for about 3 hours after the shots, but when he woke-up he was crabby and hungry. He kept crying every time he moved his legs for awhile. Now he seems to be getting better and moving his legs more. I think the Tylenol has kicked in. I did go back to see what Carson's stats were at his 2 month check-up. He was only 10 pounds, 7 ounces and was 23 inches long.

Happy Mother's Day

I had the pleasure of spending this Mother's Day with my mom and also my grandma (as well as my grandpa, aunt, and brother). My mom flew in last Thursday and left Monday morning. Paul was out of town at a Jimmy John's conference in Orlando, FL. Yes, he was enjoying the warm weather while I was at home taking care of our boys! Actually, he didn't really get to do anything except attend Jimmy John's stuff. But, from what I've heard so far, he did get to do a little partying! So, we helped fly my mom down so she could help me and spend the weekend with all of us. My grandparents were also able to come from Iowa on Saturday morning and stay until Sunday. They hadn't seen Carson since October and this was their first time seeing Ashton. It was great to have everyone together.
I hope all of you who are mom's had a wonderful Mother's Day! It's a full-time job, but one of the best jobs in the world. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
