Our Special Sunday
On June 15th Ashton was baptised. As you can see in the pictures, he is wearing a gown (or as Paul likes to call it...a dress). But the baptismal gown that he is wearing is about 90 years old. It was my grandpa's and numerous people in my family have worn it, including my dad, me and Carson. So, it has special meaning! Ashton was good through the baptism. He slept for the first half and didn't even cry when he got the water poured on his head. I was surprised because he's not fond of bath's. Both of our parents were able to be there, as well as Paul's brother, sister-in-law, nephew and my brother. My brother is one of Ashton's godparents, but my best friend, Anne, and her husband, Jason, are also godparents. They weren't able to make it because they live in SD, but I know they were there in spirit. After the baptism, we just came back to our house for a BBQ.
It was also a special day because it was also Father's Day. So, we also got to spend time with both of our dads. I know we have both learned a lot from them. Paul has also been a wonderful dad to Carson and Ashton. He has been very helpful and very hands-on. I hope Ashton and Carson both grow up to have Paul's desire for hard work, his outgoing personality and his love of sports.
